Turquoise & Cerise Portrait

I want to do a photo shoot with this model and these colors.  Hmm... One day. ~ Jessie Crayon and watercolors, 2010.

Shirt Design : Bleach

A Wife Beater is a famous nickname for white tank tops for men. I decided to invert the stereotype and turn my black tank top into a Husband Beater. I thought it was funny. Ta DA! This is what it looks like when I was done. I gave it to my sister as one of her birthday presents. Ha! She wore it while bar tending and she said everyone asked her where she got it. That made me happy. I like the cha-ching of the $/S.  It was my first time making a bleach design. The results were a mess. To fix that I made certain words brighter by adding more bleach and I used my permanent black marker to cover the letters that were unreadable.

I'm feeling awfully precious lately...

I find the process of drawing so relaxing that I really don't care about the end result. It's a nice benefit to like what you create, but it's a luxury to love what you create. First I drew this scene with pencil and colored it in with Crayola Crayons from my childhood. Yes, the are extremely old, but they are sustainable and still good. I used colors they don't make anymore like Indian Red and Maize. Then I used the inexpensive Watercolors by Crayola (old) and Artist's Loft (new to me) for the Wax Resist effect. Crayola has deeper and stronger pigments and Artist's Loft tends to be very light even after many applications. Ah, the end result, iPhoto blur and color altering. I love the undone and distressed look of it. It has a nostalgic feel to it for me. It reminds me of a Carnival or the Circus. A print of the blue version is available at Society6 .  I sometimes fantasize about joining the circus. I would love to be a flying trapeze art...

CRAYOLA CRAYON TECHNIQUES!

Wax Resist  Encaustic - Lady of Shallot inspiration Tonight I was sitting in my apartment bored and broke and I decided that I should color in my coloring book. I couldn't find a coloring page I wanted to color. I figured I should draw my own scene on watercolor paper. Wax Resist is using wax color (crayon) and then painting over it with watercolors. I like the effect. This is really just a draft. I wasn't sure if it would come out good. I want to make another tomorrow. For the Encaustic I used colorful wax (crayon) and I lightly dipped the crayon in a candle flame. The droplets gave it a stippling effect. It was fun and relaxing at the same time. You would really have to be in the mood to go back and forth because the wax dries super fast. I haven't decided if I should finish it....
