Kristyana

Kristyana by Amber D'Amato This is a portrait of my beautiful muse, Kristyana.  It is an ink illustration accented with oil pastels on toned tan paper.  "A line is a dot that went for a walk." ~Paul Klee

Rose Quartz & Serenity Blue

by Amber D'Amato 2016 Pantone colors of the year are Rose Quartz and Serenity. They are delicate colors that compliment each other beautifully. There is a classic elegance about that color pairing that brought Audrey Hepburn to mind.

Gold Gilding

Gilt by Amber D'Amato I used an old cardboard backing of a note pad. I drew an ink drawing of a woman and filled in areas with pastel pencils. Then I made a design with Martha Stewart's Gold Liquid Gilding.  I love the look of a pretty face on a toned background with splashes of gold. The colors are so pretty.

Bedtime

I used call myself a dilettante because I didn't prefer one medium over another. I prefer to have choices and use whatever strikes my fancy. I truly love creating, making, producing drawings and paintings. A true dilettante does not commit to art. I like to think of myself as a committed artist. In the past I was a shadow artist and I was committed to being supportive of other people's art because I did not think I was good enough to call myself their peers. If it makes you happy, do it. If it makes you money, definitely do it. And most importantly, there are so many different genres of art, there is no need to think you are not good enough. Cultivate your own brand of art and shut off the TV.
