Reptilian Chick

Neglected Reptilian Chick by Amber D'Amato I paint this Reptilian Chick a little bit each month because she started out as a thrifty option for when I mix too much paint. I don't like wasting paint. I am looking forward to her many transformations. P.S. I was obsessed with the 80's TV movie "V" when I was a kid.

Eve

Eve Unfinished by Amber D'Amato Did you ever love an unfinished drawing more than the finished piece? I sometimes encounter that. It's a very weird feeling to think more works for some pieces and less works for others, but how do you know that will be the result? I just don't know? This is a drawing of my friend, Eve. She is a free spirit with a strong restlessness in her. She was bit by the wanderlust bug.  Eve Finished by Amber D'Amato

Hannah

Hannah by Amber D'Amato This is a drawing of my friend, Hannah. She is Cameron Diaz's doppelgänger. Hannah is beautiful inside and out.

Elf

Elf by Amber D'Amato It was just one of those days I wanted to draw with a 6B pencil. I am now the proud owner of a 9B woodless pencil. I am so excited about using it soon.

Inspirational Color

Watercolor & Gold Leaf Look at that! Transparent watery watercolor and gold leaf sitting on the the top of it.  So beautiful. This inspires me. I am so inspired by colors and combinations of colors. As I was painting this freehand I had absolutely no idea what to make. All I knew was that I wanted to use colors and lots of them. I played with the watercolors at Qathra Cafe in Ditmas Park, Brooklyn.  Save Save

Glittery Salem Witch

Ink & Gold Drawing by Amber D'Amato I am entering a weird realm with my sketchbook drawings. I am not sure where I am going with this. But as I was drawing the red ink dots of blood flowing up her neck I was imagining it a sparkly red, ruby slippers red. So maybe I am not so dark if I'm making horror like a Twilight vampire that sparkles in the sun. I admit it, I really love glitter, sparkles, and shimmery stuff. She looks like a witch from the Crucible though. So I guess this is like Stephenie Meyer's version of the Salem Witch Trials. Hahaha!

Gold Creeper

Pencil & Gold Leaf Sketch by Amber D'Amato Ooh... Look at this creeper! I drew this at Astor Bake Shop in Astoria, Queens. I used graphite pencils, a gold leafing pen, red ink, and white chalk pencil.

Bad Posture

Bad Posture by Amber D'Amato I was away from home for 2 weeks dog sitting and I carried my sketchbook and a little bag that held various shades of graphite pencils, various size pens, white Gelly pen, a gold leafing pen, erasers, and a pencil sharpener. I this created drawing at Qathra Cafe in Ditmas Park, Brooklyn.   Qathra Cafe in Ditmas Park, Brooklyn

Please Give Me Quiet Creative Time

“I find there is a quality to being alone that is incredibly precious. Life rushes back into the void, richer, more vivid, fuller than before.”  ―  Anne Morrow Lindbergh ,  Gift from the Sea Pleases Give Me Quiet Creative Time by Amber D'Amato I started this watercolor painting of a girl with wet hair on Wednesday. I then finished it yesterday, on Friday. I wanted to finish this in one sitting, and I had the energy to do so. Unfortunately I live with someone that doesn't respect my need for quiet and she kept on talking to me even after I nicely asked her to give me some space and quiet. After the 5th time asking her to leave me alone in the most polite way I felt myself grow irritable. Instead of fighting I abandoned this watercolor painting and took a walk. I really long walk. I think this painting would have come out significantly different if she had given me the time to create. I try not to be sad about it. I was in the perfect mood and zone to execute w...
