Wax Resist


 Encaustic - Lady of Shallot inspiration

Tonight I was sitting in my apartment bored and broke and I decided that I should color in my coloring book. I couldn't find a coloring page I wanted to color. I figured I should draw my own scene on watercolor paper.

Wax Resist is using wax color (crayon) and then painting over it with watercolors. I like the effect. This is really just a draft. I wasn't sure if it would come out good. I want to make another tomorrow.

For the Encaustic I used colorful wax (crayon) and I lightly dipped the crayon in a candle flame. The droplets gave it a stippling effect. It was fun and relaxing at the same time. You would really have to be in the mood to go back and forth because the wax dries super fast. I haven't decided if I should finish it....

Practice Makes Perfect

I tried to incorporate my line drawing on a wood tile. It was very difficult getting it to do what I wanted because it was laminated. I look forward to practicing more with the Creative Versa-Tool I got at Michaels'. The wood tile I got at Home Depot for free or for like 30 cents in 2010. I had planned to paint on it, but never got around to it. I wondered if my etching tool would work better? Not really what I was hoping for. A friend of mine said that I should leave all my practice pieces around my neighborhood and NYC with my website and social media links. Kind of a "found art" business card. I think that is brilliant. Fancy DIY Manicure

TRIBAL/ AZTEC  I painted my nails white.  Then I drew a pattern on them with a black nail polish pen.  Then I filled them in with other nail polish pens. Despite that they look like Easter eggs, a lot of people gave me compliments on them. =) &  MARBLE Paint your nails white. Tape your fingers around the nail beds.  Room temperature water in a cup. Put a couple of drops of random nail polish colors. Use a plastic knife to make swirly patterns. Place your nail bed on top of design & push into the water. Pull your finger out and gently rip off the tape. Use Q-tip & nail polish remover to clean your fingers. &  I had so much fun with having too much time on my hands. Haha!
