Astrological Soles

A part of me is a stereotypical woman. I love shoes. I am also unemployed with an amazing amount of free time. Let me prove it. I was thinking, if my shoes had astrological signs what would they be? Here is a stereotypical view of each sign. If a friend of mine does not like their sign description, please know that I don't care. I don't care about astrology. I care about you. Xoxo

Aries

My strappy Aerosole platforms would have to be an Aries. The fire sign want to be first at everything and these shoes do too. They are sexy and they are comfortable. Try and top that. I dare you. As a Virgo I don't dare people unless I know I am right.
Taurus
Earthy sensual Taurus wants constant comfort and luxury. Nine West peep-toe flats are comfortable and yet look so damn refined. In these shoes you can attend a NYC Ballet wearing something dressy or be casual and take long walks in city.

Gemini
You see what I did there? Ha! When I think of Gemini I think of yellow hightop sneakers with sick graffiti on them. I think of COLORS! But this mutable air sign is also very mercurial and my flat Steve Madden ankle boots are stylish and let me run around! My Bohemian Gems out there, you are gems, my mercurial cousins.

Cancer
I apologize for the ugly view of my gorgeous stems. Come on! Beach, Havaianas flip-flops, water, freedom! So easygoing. You have to be my go-to summer shoes. Everyone needs and wants Cancer signs around them. Just like people need flip-flops in the summer and then wear them first sign of spring. Or reluctantly take them off in the fall. Then dedicate them as home slippers reminiscing about summer in the cold winter time. Yes, you are needed and loved!

Leo
My Lucky Brand meow print ballet flats really do receive a lot of compliments. How about that? I thought warm positive Leo would be stunning heels. Let me tell you why this makes sense, in flats you can be everywhere at once. Also in flats you are easily approachable. As a beautiful, fiery, lovable Leo that naturally comes with the territory.

Virgo
I always thought the virgin looked like a hippie with flowers in her hair and amber waves of grain in her arms. Everyone knows that Virgo is a lady in a dress. The black suede Aerosole flats are sensible and practical, key items on Virgo's list. I love the warm brown sidewalk, earthy without the dirt. I get to remain clean. Plus as a Virgo this is my favorite picture. 1st dibs. Ha!

Libra
The scales, the yin and the yang. The airy balance between style and practicality. The aesthetic appreciation for design and art. Libra's are so beautiful. They always want the people in their company to feel comfortable. My Banana Republic Ashley ballet flats has yet to give me a blister. I love you shoes. See! The sign of the lovers. Print available at Society6.

Scorpio
Steve Madden suede and snake skin high-heels are so sexy! Scorpio, you are so damn mysterious, witty and sharp! You are the boss of your surf! But damn, you really hurt me. Every single one of you. The ultimate attraction to bad boys or high heels.

Sagittarius

Sagittarius rules the legs and they represent adventure. My comfortable Saucony sneakers ensure fun, exercise and walking long distances. If you were wondering, I hate running, I don't like the burn, but these sneaks can allow that too because they are reliable and dependable.

Capricorn

This photo is so business, right? My classy suede high-heeled Steve Madden ankle boots provide both earthiness and polished sophistication. I really am impressed.

Aquarius
I love you my vintage Puma sneakers. You are so unique in green. You were my go-to shoes when I was a Florist's Design Assistant and boy did you get wet! Yet dear air sign, you are able to retain your color and comfort. How do you do it? How? I'd love to know, curious Aquarius.

Pisces
Where's the water? Where are the fish? Well, Neptune rules Pisces. Neptune is the planet of fantasy. Fairy lights and jeweled Indian slippers make me want to daydream and imagine mystical realms not of this world. Pisces makes that a daily thing. I know this for a fact, my mother travels extensively with the Sandman. She's one of the most interesting people I know. Print available at Society6.

Art Show at Seek Coffee

Art Show at Seek Coffee I have two paintings showing at Seek Coffee in Astoria, Queens this Saturday.  They are available for purchase. I will also be selling embellished prints.  Cassie of Euphoria by Amber Art Inspiration Photo from Euphoria I love the famous scene from the 2nd season of Euphoria. Cassie surrounded by flowers is so beautiful and almost religious. I wanted to capture the beautiful but sad moment. I wanted to give it an art nouveau feel. I left her face in pencil because she is not a fully realized woman, she was completely unable to view her worth and dignity which led to her self-sabotage that hurt everyone around her.  Medium: Watercolor, Ink, Gold Leaf, and Pencil. Size: 6x8 on 8x10 watercolor paper. Purchase online: Click Here! Chrysalis by Amber Art I do not have an inspiration photo. I was inspired to draw this after a hard day at work dealing with too many egos. I was exhausted, but hopeful for a rebirth in energy and hope again due to a lon...

Art Supply Review: 6 Gouache Brands Comparison

Gouache Paint Review Gouache is the same as watercolor because it is a water-based paint, except it is not transparent, it is opaque. Watercolor and gouache can be used together. Gouache should dry to a velvety matte finish. It can sometimes look creamy and chalky. Gouache could appear like an acrylic paint, but it reactivates when you add water to a finished piece like watercolor. Acrylic paint does not reactivate, it dries to a strong plastic-like finish. Gouache is often used in watercolor paintings as a highlight, or to fix a mistake, or an alternative to masking.  Gouache Brands Links: Lukas Studio Gouache Savior Faire Gouache Holbein Irodori Artist Gouache Winsor & Newton Designers Gouache Artist's Loft Jelly Gouache Arteza Paint Tubs (Jelly Gouache) How I will judge the gouache I am testing? 1. Do they offer the usual basics like Blue, Red, & Yellow? Or modern color theory options like Magenta, Yellow, & Cyan? 2. How do they swatch? I am looking for opaci...

When motivation wanes...

Pastel & Graphite Drawing I have a crazy amount of public and private Pinterest boards of inspiration. I have a beautiful plethora of art supplies, I don't have everything I want, but I have the basics. Sometimes despite that I don't make art. Why?!?! I don't know. Some weeks go by and I have made nothing. This bums me out. Like I said, I have inspiration, the issue is choosing what to create.  I ask myself: 1. Do I want to paint in watercolor or acrylics?  2. DO I want to draw on cardboard, sketchbook, or beautiful toned paper?  3. If that doesn't give me the push then I flip through Pinterest boards, YouTube videos, and visit my favorite artist's social media pages. 4. Go to an art gallery or museum 5. Walk through an art store 6. Visit the art section of a book store 7. Flip through my collection of art books If those 7 steps don't work, I just let it be and view the creative pause moments as having my antenna out and collecting...
