The Divine Sailor

I love this line drawing very much, but I added color to it. Yes I did. Now it is a goofy drawing. Line Sketch by Amber D'Amato The Divine Sailor ~ Imagined Wes Anderson poster...

FKA Twigs Sketch

I love FKA Twigs. LOVE! I will make a portrait of her in a much bigger, either paint or pastel pencils.  As for the black canvas with fancy Sennelier oil pastels...  What a waste of good pastels! Tragic! What was I thinking? Ok, so I think I should have done a pointillism design instead in white acrylic.

Monthly Resolutions

Shouldn't we make monthly resolutions? I tend to avoid drawing two eyes, I just want to draw one. I think for the month of April I will focus on drawing two eyes until it becomes a habit. Is there something you don't love to draw, but wished you could do more often? PRACTICE! I will practice too. It is so important to stretch your skills daily, weekly or monthly! Hope you have an awesome day.

Art Nouveau

I did not know what I wanted to draw so I drew inspiration from an Alphonse Mucha compilation book. I love his elegant, classy and sensual style. Here is a page from my sketchbook. =)

Gelatos

I used Faber-Castell's Gelatos for the first time. The colors are absolutely stunning. My only complaint is that it was like coloring with lipstick, much like oil pastels. Although, unlike oil pastels, when used with water you get a watercolor effect which is fascinating. I looked up a bunch of videos on Gelatos to learn new techniques and hope to try out the ones I liked. I have yet to master this medium! Ha! My favorite colors are the shimmery ones.  My 1st Gelato Girl by Amber D'Amato

The Struggle Is Real.

The nose is killing me! Yes. The struggle is real. Sometimes you create pieces that make you smile. Other days you make stuff that just disappoint you beyond repair. Ok, I am exaggerating, but I was not able to resolve this issue and gave up. Below shows some of my process and it sucks that I will never be happy with the nose shading.   Working from a photo... Without the nose highlight

Progress

I go back and forth with working from photos and working from imagination. Imagination is always kind of weird or Sci-fi. The photo representation is always more real to life, but not ever mistaken for a photo, yet. This is my first sketchbook drawing drawn from imagination that looks kind of real. I used a right eyes from a photo and just tried to mimic it with the left eye. The rest of the face I made up and I am happy to share it today. Imaginative Progress by Amber D'Amato
