... On Finishing An Abandoned Drawing...
I bought a 6x9 sketchbook with black paper in Portland, Oregon last February. I wanted to have something small to travel with so I could doodle. I drew a random head in white ink and abandoned it.
Eight days ago I returned to this random drawing that I did not like and finished it with an additional gold and copper ink. Drawing the repetitive lines / half circles, dots, and falling up droplets felt very meditative and relaxing. I no longer believe that it's a horrible thing to abandon a drawing or painting anymore. I view it as a late bloomer. If it is not feeling right, move on. No need to throw it out. Return to it when you are ready to embrace it.
