"To travel purposely towards a vague destination." When I go on solo vacations I like to create a fun itinerary for myself, but I always schedule in spontaneity. "Dottie, I'm a loner, a rebel, a risktaker." Pee Wee Herman did not inspire this drawing.

Inspiration:
I drew this at Greta's Coffee & Kitchen café. I love to go to different cafes and draw because I not only love the atmosphere and being near cozy drinks and treats, but I can focus. At home I get distracted.
The special part about going to a different café each time I draw is that I can feel like a stranger, instead of strange for wanting to keep to myself. I always have this odd sense of urgency to be outside. Exploring new cafes to write, read or draw in keeps me focused while nixing the FOMO feeling. Ha!

Inspiration:
I wanted to see if I could draw a masculine man because in the past I made them look feminine. I saw a photo of the model, Anatol Modzelewski, he has a unique and beautiful face. I really like the hair the most in this drawing. I am usually most inspired by women, but once in awhile I'll see a beautiful man's face and I will want to recreate them in a drawing or painting.

Halcyon: Calm, tranquil; denoting a period of time in the past that was idyllically happy and peaceful.
I wanted to post a pretty time-lapse video of where I start from a blank page and pencil and end it with the finished piece in ink. I drew this in one sitting. The video is 2 minutes long, but the drawing definitely did not take 2 minutes. I also filmed a video where I started from a blank page and ended with a finished piece, but that was like a 20 to 30 minute video and not as fun to watch as a time-lapse.

You know that feeling of longing that lives in your chest? The sensitivity and appreciation of nature, art and beauty? The desire to savor a beautiful moment?
When you work a full time day job, you have a very limited amount of free time. I don't want to spend it on commissions making art for people because I want to have fun in my free time, not work. The reason I never pursued an art career was because I did not want to compromise what I did with art. Making a piece for someone in their vision is always met with a price negotiation and I can't put a discounted price on my free time. In my free time I want to follow the inspiration I have, flesh out the ideas and projects I write about in my journal. When it comes to inspiration I feel like Alice running after the White Rabbit. I don't want all the wonderland distractions on my way to stalking a rabbit…? I may return to this thought another day and edit this paragraph. Ha!
