Self-Portrait

My 6th Acrylic Painting! A Self-Portrait named Jouska. I was really feeling the gold, pink, and spring green palette when I first started it. It bored me after seeing it. Plus that Pepto Bismol pink was far too precious. Since I am me, someone who loves beauty in others, I felt a little shy about painting my own brand of beauty. I incorporated my favorite patterns, lines in the hair and dots in the background. Very much my style. I dripped Pebeo paint in gold, pearl, and emerald. I used blue interference paint on the shadows and gold interference paint on the highlights. I smeared big chunks of color on the skin, especially my right arm since I depend on it to paint. Hmm... I think my next painting should be done entirely with my least dominant hand, the left! I realize that this painting does not truly give the impression of me laying down in bed. I look like I am sitting up. Oh well. I feel like when you try to make a plan you make God laugh. Plans always change. =) Outlin...

Bride of Frankenstein

This is my 5th Acrylic Painting. Scary, Halloween goddesses are not usually my thing. I decided to make her in between making my self-portrait. I finished her in one day. Yes, you read that right. After the 1st picture I did my laundry. The 2nd picture is after I did my laundry. This has to be the most natural painting I have ever did! It was effortless! I mixed Artist Loft metallic white acrylic paint with gloss gel medium for the skin. I used Crayola pearl medium for the satin coat. I mixed the rest of the metallic paint with Gloss Heavy Super Heavy Gel for the texture of the hair. Black glitter dabbed on the black eyes while the paint was still wet. The Beginning! ...Middle... The End.

Cicpatli

My 4th acrylic painting! It has glass bead gel medium for the nature background and blue & gold interference paint on the dragonfly and cosmic hand. We are are made of stardust. Cicpatli ~ 2015 “The Cosmos is all that is or was or ever will be. Our feeblest contemplations of the Cosmos stir us -- there is a tingling in the spine, a catch in the voice, a faint sensation, as if a distant memory, of falling from a height. We know we are approaching the greatest of mysteries.”   ~ Carl Sagan

Natalie ~ The Super Heroine!

This is my 3rd acrylic painting.  I used Faber Castell's Glass Bead Glitter Gel and I was not impressed. I need to try it again another way. I tinted it with blue, so maybe next time I will just spread it on as is and see if it is more noticeable. I also used Pebeo Prisme Fantasy in Violet for the background and blue and gold interference paint for highlight on skin, hood, and hair. Interference paint is extremely cool, it changes color when you move it and it is kind of iridescent.

Abstract Art with Yupo Paper!

I am not an abstract artist, but this I actually loved creating. It was incredibly messy. I like the idea of maybe cutting out a drawing or watercolor of a woman and placing her on the picture.  I used Yupo Paper and India Inks in various colors as well as iridescent colors. I swirled around the colors with a calligraphy pen and I also moved the paper around to mix. You have to wait a whole night for it to dry. When I saw it the next morning I was so excited! I can't wait to create another.  Finished Dried Piece Detail

Caterpillar Lady

Caterpillar Lady ~ Watercolor Doodle by Amber D'Amato 2015 The thing about doodling with watercolor is that you don't know what you are going to get. I like the weird results I got. I like how the slug-like shape coat looks like fur. I hate fur coats, so I have to imagine she already had this thing on her body. Ha! Yep. She will be a woman one day! Or rather a female butterfly.

Nothing is a Mistake, Just a Detour.

Doodle by Amber D'Amato 2015 I intended to make a beautiful watercolor and I did not like the results! So I smudged some hard pastels on and drew a line drawing with ink. I love this mistake. =D “We don't make mistakes, just happy little accidents.”  ~Bob Ross
