I created this positive self portrait to counteract my emotional self portrait last September. Ha! This painting is based on a photo of myself in 2011 with a phone app filter.
This is the first time using tar gel and I love it! I found it was easy to work with and if I laid it flat it didn't move while it was drying. I think I will use it for another idea I was reserving for pouring medium. Pouring medium is great, but it takes over the whole surface. With tar gel, it's original purpose is for a more of a Jackson Pollack splatters, but it stays put and it doesn't take over the whole surface if I want to just make a section shiny. I applied it with a plastic palette knife so it did not ruin any of my brushes.
Selfie Ingredients
5x7 Canvas
Artist Loft Acrylic Paint
Golden's Interference Paint in Gold & Blue
Golden's Clear Tar Gel
Faber-Castell's Glass Bead Glitter Gel
